Details of the Government scheme to reward homeowners for using renewable energy are expected to be announced sometime over the summer 2011.  The scheme is intended to play a vital part towards achieving the Government target of supplying 15% of the overall energy consumption requirement from renewable resources by 2020.

Elsmore's new homes incorporate systems which include the use of renewable energy for hot water and home heating, expected to be covered by the scheme.  This means that home owners will be able to claim a contribution towards their energy bills from the Government.   The proposed annual payment will be linked to the amount of Renewable Heat generated and is likely to be made annually from 10-23 years depending on the technology used.

Using details from the Government consultation document, Daikin Air Source Heat Pumps installed in many of Elsmore's new homes are expected to qualify for an annual payment.

The Renewable Heat Incentive(RHI) policy document sets out the detailed arrangements for this scheme.  It is believed the Government is aiming for the regulations which underpin this scheme to be approved by Parliament in summer 2011 and the scheme will be introduced shortly thereafter.
